Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced a major recruitment drive for the 32nd batch of Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO) and Assistant Engineers (AE). This recruitment is for a total of 841 vacancies, encompassing both Generalist and Specialist posts. All eligible Indian citizens are invited to apply through online mode only.

This selection process is a three-tiered system that includes a Preliminary Exam, a Main Exam, and an Interview. Successful candidates will be appointed on a regular basis.

Eligibility Conditions (as on August 1, 2025)

Age Limit

  • For AAO (Generalist), AE, AAO (CS), AAO (Actuarial), AAO (Insurance Specialist): Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years.
  • For AAO (CA), AAO (Legal): Minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years.
  • Age relaxation for reserved categories, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and confirmed LIC employees is applicable as per government guidelines.

Educational Qualification

  • AAO (Generalist): A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University/Institution.
  • AE (Civil/Electrical): B.Tech/B.E. (Civil/Electrical) from an AICTE recognized Indian University/Institution. A minimum of three years of post-qualification working experience in the planning and execution of multi-story building projects is required.
  • AAO (Chartered Accountant): A Bachelor's Degree and must have passed the Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and be an Associate member.
  • AAO (Company Secretary): A Bachelor's Degree and a Qualified Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
  • AAO (Actuarial): A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Must have passed at least 6 papers of the examination conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India / Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK.
  • AAO (Insurance Specialist): A Bachelor's Degree and possessing a professional qualification in Life Insurance (Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India) with a minimum experience of 5 years in Life Insurance Companies.
  • AAO (Legal): A Bachelor's Degree in Law with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD). Must be enrolled with the Bar Council as an Advocate and have at least two years of post-enrollment experience.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay the application fees online between August 16, 2025, and September 8, 2025.

  • For SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Intimation Charges of Rs. 85/- + GST + Transaction Charges.
  • For all other candidates: Application Fee-cum-Intimation Charges of Rs. 700/- + GST + Transaction Charges.

Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern

The selection process includes a Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and an Interview. Marks from the Preliminary Exam will not be counted for the final merit list. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Exam and the Interview.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination (Online)

This is a qualifying test with three sections and separate timings for each section. Candidates must qualify in each section separately.

Note on Penalties:

  • For AAO (Generalist) Prelims, there will be no negative marking.
  • For AE/AAO (Specialist)/AAO (Legal) Prelims, a negative marking system is in place where 1/4th of the mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Phase II: Main Examination (Online)

The Main Exam consists of an objective test for 300 marks and a descriptive test. There is no negative marking in the Main Examination for any post. The descriptive papers for English Language are of a qualifying nature, and their marks will not be counted for ranking.

  • English Language (Descriptive) (25 marks, qualifying only)

  • General Awareness with special reference to Insurance and Financial Market Awareness (20 marks)

  • English Language (Descriptive) (25 marks, qualifying only)

Phase III: Interview

Candidates will be called for an interview based on their ranking in the Main examination. The maximum interview marks are 60. To qualify, EWS/Unreserved/OBC candidates must score a minimum of 30 marks, while SC/ST/PwBD candidates must score a minimum of 27 marks.

General Service Conditions

  • Posting: The posts are regular, and selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in India. There may be an initial posting for a minimum period in mofussil branches outside their home zones.
  • Probation: All appointed candidates will be on a one-year probation period, which may be extended up to two years.
  • Guarantee Bond: Before joining, candidates must give an undertaking to serve LIC for a minimum of four years from the date of joining. Failure to do so will require them to pay liquidated damages of Rs. 5,00,000.
  • Emoluments: The basic pay is Rs. 88,635/- per month. Total emoluments at the minimum scale, including HRA, CCA, etc., will be approximately Rs. 1,26,000/- per month in an 'A' Class city.
  • Medical Exam: Candidates who are shortlisted in the final merit list will undergo a Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination.
